Chatelaine Charm Holder
A French word translating to "lady (or mistress) of the castle", the chatelaine was used to hold multiple useful items at one time-- keys, scissors, thimbles, etc. The earliest example dates back as far as the 1600s, with the design evolving into elaborate gold pieces with long chains and sometimes even gemstones. It gained serious popularity again in the mid to late 1800s. This piece has multiple notches for the same purpose-- dangling multiple items and keeping them separate. Measurements: 1.5”x1.3”.
